The Artist
Buechelers artistic forms of expression are theater directing, writing, and curating exhibitions.
The theater director has created more than 60 productions, with two specializations emerging: on the one hand, finely crafted, often highly emotional chamber plays with a nuanced exploration of characters and situations, in which Buecheler takes texts very precisely and literally, and on the other hand, international musicals on the big stage. Here, Buecheler takes a much freer approach to the source material, adding associative characters or texts that may sometimes come from Heinrich Heine or Friedrich Nietzsche. The director admits that he is not actually a fan of musicals, but that he loves creating sophisticated theater for a large audience.
Buecheler has a vision of devoting himself entirely to writing at some point in the future. With his numerous projects and activities, this has been neglected far too much up to now. In addition to essays, his expressive poetry cycle DIE HINTERHÄLTIGEN HUNDE DER ZEIT (The Sneaky Dogs of Time) was set to music by Volker M. Plangg and premiered in Berlin. His collaboration with Neil Hannon of Divine Comedy brought his chamber opera IM MAY (IN MAY, translation by Tim Clarke) great success in the European charts after a tour of the UK, so much so that he is currently writing a sequel.
Since 2017, Buecheler has been directing the LAWRENCE funun gallery in Berlin, where he primarily presents artists from the Arab world. He also curates exhibitions for the ONE SKY academy in Sicily. Time and again, his way of arranging and hanging artworks elicits approving surprise—the theater director stages spaces and art experiences in a pointed manner.

Buechelers künstlerische Ausdrucksformen sind die Theaterregie, das Schreiben und das Kuratieren von Ausstellungen.
Der Theaterregisseur hat mehr als 60 Inszenierungen geschaffen, wobei sich zwei Spezialisierung herauskristallisierten: Einerseits das fein ziselierte, oft hoch emotionale Kammerspiel mit differenzierter Auslotung von Charakteren und Situationen, wobei Buecheler Texte sehr genau und wörtlich nimmt, und andererseits das internationale Musical auf der großen Bühne. Hier geht Buecheler viel freier mit den Vorlagen um, fügt assoziierende Figuren ein oder Texte, die dann auch mal von Heinrich Heine oder Friedrich Nietzsche stammen können. Regisseur bekennt, eigentlich kein Musical-Fan zu sein, es aber zu lieben, für ein großes Publikum anspruchsvolles Theater zu machen.
Buecheler hat die Vision, sich später einmal ganz dem Schreiben zu widmen. Das kommt bei seinen zahlreichen Projekten und Aktivitäten bisher viel zu kurz. Neben Essays wurde sein expressiver Gedichtzyklus DIE HINTERHÄLTIGEN HUNDE DER ZEIT von Volker M. Plangg vertont und in Berlin uraufgeführt worden. Die Zusammenarbeit mit Neil Hannon von Divine Comedy brachte seiner Kammeroper IM MAY (IN MAY, Übersetzung Tim Clarke) nach einer Tour durch UK sogar großen Erfolg in den europäischen Charts, so dass er aktuell an einer Fortsetzung schreibt.
Seit 2017 leitet Buecheler die LAWRENCE funun gallery in Berlin, mit der er vor allem Künstlerinnen und Künstler aus der arabischen Welt präsentiert. Aber auch für die ONE SKY academy in Sizilien kurariert er Ausstellungen kuratiert. Immer wieder löst seine Art, Kunstwerke zu arrangieren bzw. zu hängen, zustimmende Überraschung aus – der Theaterregisseur inszeniert auf pointierte Weise Räume und Kunsterlebnisse.

Il regista teatrale ha realizzato più di 60 produzioni, distinguendosi in due specializzazioni: da un lato, il teatro da camera finemente cesellato, spesso altamente emotivo, con un’analisi differenziata dei personaggi e delle situazioni, in cui Buecheler prende i testi in modo molto preciso e letterale, e dall’altro lato, il musical internazionale sul grande palcoscenico. In questo caso Buecheler tratta i modelli in modo molto più libero, inserendo personaggi associati o testi che a volte possono provenire da Heinrich Heine o Friedrich Nietzsche. Il regista ammette di non essere in realtà un appassionato di musical, ma di amare il teatro impegnativo per un vasto pubblico.
Buecheler ha l’aspirazione di dedicarsi completamente alla scrittura in futuro. Finora questo aspetto è stato trascurato a causa dei suoi numerosi progetti e attività. Oltre ai saggi, il suo ciclo di poesie espressive DIE HINTERHÄLTIGEN HUNDE DER ZEIT (I cani subdoli del tempo) è stato musicato da Volker M. Plangg e presentato in anteprima a Berlino. La collaborazione con Neil Hannon dei Divine Comedy ha portato la sua opera da camera IM MAY (IN MAY, traduzione di Tim Clarke) a un grande successo nelle classifiche europee dopo un tour nel Regno Unito, tanto che attualmente sta scrivendo un seguito. Dal 2017 Buecheler dirige la LAWRENCE funun gallery di Berlino, con la quale presenta principalmente artisti provenienti dal mondo arabo. Inoltre, cura mostre per la ONE SKY academy in Sicilia. Il suo modo di disporre e appendere le opere d’arte suscita sempre sorpresa e approvazione: il regista teatrale mette in scena in modo incisivo spazi ed esperienze artistiche.
